Hello friends! I know I have been AWOL for the last couple of years, but I hope to continue with this blog this time around. I've got a recap post for the last few years in the works, but right now, let's discuss the shows I'm watching this year:
1. Sherlock
This BBC show climbed to the top of my favorite TV shows list when it first aired in 2010 and despite only 3 episodes every 2 years, it continues to be my favorite. There is no season this year, but a special episode called The Abominable Bride was aired early this year. As much as I love Benedict Cumberbatch as a modern day Sherlock, I was absolutely thrilled to see him play a 19th century Holmes. Truth be told, now that I have seen him in that original avatar, I'm not sure which setting I actually prefer.
2. Marvel's Daredevil
If you don't know what I am talking about, are you sure you are a earthling? Netflix produced the TV adaptation of Marvel's superhero Daredevil last season in 2015. The whole season released simultaneously and I think I binge-watched the first season that very weekend. I had been a fan of Ben Affleck's Dardevil, but Charlie Cox brings a fresh vulnerability to this lawyer-during-day-vigilante-at-night superhero. Of course, even those who have not watched the show, are familiar with its viral hallway fight scene:
Netflix released the second season of Daredevil this March and it was a perfect birthday present for me!
3. Houdini and Doyle
I recently started watching the limited series about the real-life friendship of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and the great Houdini. I was not aware that the two were not only contemporaries but good friends. I do not know how much of the story is rooted in reality, but it sure makes for a fascinating watch. In the series, the two team up with the first-ever woman constable of Scotland Yard to solve crimes of the supernatural kind.
4. Old shows
The shows that I'm still watching mainly include Bones and The Big Bang Theory. While TBBT continues to go strong, Bones will air its final season later this year.
